Twilight Glow

The lighthouse commands the central vertical axis of the canvas, viewed from a slightly low angle that emphasizes its height and enduring presence. Rather than capturing a distant coastal shoreline, the artist crops the scene tightly around the upper structure of the tower: the rounded cupola topped with a small finial, the lantern gallery with small rectangular windows, an observation catwalk, and two symmetrical side wings or bridge like platforms extending from the tower’s midsection. The base continues off the lower edge of the frame, grounding the tower as a towering focal point against an open, non-representational backdrop.
